The medium-density solid wood (640–660 kg/m³) is close to Oak in weight. Hardness on the Brinell scale is 3.7 – 4.0 HB. Elm is a hard species that excellently resists mechanical damage. Elm flooring offers worthy competition to Beech and Oak in terms of wear resistance.
