Joinery edged Amur corktree timber of prime (extra) grade ensures the highest possible material yield. Sawn timber from this rare wood species is used for worktops, cabinet furniture, flooring, and doors. The face surface is clean, and the texture is uniform. Kiln drying to an optimal moisture content of 8–10% ensures dimensional stability and ease of machining. Available for self-collection from our warehouse in Kyiv or prompt shipping via transport services across Ukraine.

Characteristics of Extra Grade Amur Cork Tree Edged Board

Board grade is a classification of lumber based on the natural features of the wood: the number and type of knots, presence of cracks or sapwood, uniformity of texture and colour. The grade primarily determines the aesthetic qualities of the material, not the basic physical-mechanical properties. Given the same species and correct moisture content, the grade has almost no effect on the board’s strength.

Features of Extra (Premium) Grade boards:

  • Elite timber with a clean surface: uniform texture and consistent colouring.
  • Knots, sapwood, cracks, or sharp colour changes are not permitted.
  • This is material for furniture facades, wall panels, and other interior items where visual perfection is required.

Characteristics of 1st Grade Amur Cork Tree Edged Board

When determining the lumber grade, the natural characteristics of the wood are evaluated: knots and their classifications, the potential presence of checks, shakes, or sapwood, as well as the uniformity of color and grain texture. This grading system primarily characterizes the visual and decorative qualities of the sawn timber. The grade has a negligible impact on the physical and mechanical properties of the wood, provided that the boards are manufactured from the same species and feature the proper moisture content (MC).

Features of 1st Grade boards:

  • The “Gold Standard” for joinery work: the surface is practically devoid of features, but the price is more accessible.
  • Single live (light) knots of small diameter and minor natural shade variations are permitted.
  • An optimal choice for worktops, stairs, parquet, and cabinet furniture, where the natural pattern of the wood is valued.

Benefits of Amur Cork Tree Edged Board

  1. Time saving and rapid start. Edged board allows you to skip the most labour-intensive and “messy” stage of initial preparation. You do not need to waste time removing bark or levelling edges on a band saw. The material is immediately ready for precise cutting, planing, and gluing. This reduces the production cycle by 20-30%, allowing the workshop to produce more units per hour.
  2. Maximum yield coefficient. When purchasing unedged board, you pay for the total volume, part of which (bark, sapwood, edge defects) will go to waste. With edged board, you pay only for the usable material. You get a predictable result: 90-95% of the purchased volume becomes the finished product.
  3. Preservation of tool resources. The bark of any tree often accumulates dust and sand, which act as an abrasive. Processing unedged edges blulls planer knives and circular saws much faster. By working with clean edged boards, you extend the life of your cutting tools’ sharpening and save on machine maintenance.
  4. Calculation accuracy. You can accurately calculate the cost price of the future product (stairs, facades, worktops) even before work begins, without the risk of miscalculating the waste percentage.
  5. Convenient storage. Edged material has clear width parameters, which simplifies warehouse inventory. Boards with processed edges take up 1.5 times less space in the warehouse than unedged boards.

Amur Cork Tree Edged Board: Dimensions

WoodWay Expert offers high-quality edged boards made from selected and properly dried timber. The lumber is stored in appropriate conditions. We have solid boards in the following dimensions in stock:

  • Thickness: 32 mm, 52 mm;
  • Width: from 20 cm;
  • Length: 1-4.5 m.

Boards longer than 3 m incur a +20% surcharge on the price listed in the price list. Our specialists will help you choose quality material for your project of any complexity and scale. An additional rough cutting service is provided for more convenient transport.

Features of Kiln-Dried Amur Cork Tree Boards

  • Dimensional stability. During kiln drying, the wood moisture content is brought to an average of 8–10% — an indicator optimal for interior use. Controlled temperature and humidity regimes allow for a significant reduction in internal stresses within the solid wood. Thanks to this, the board behaves predictably during cutting and further processing: the risk of warping, distortion, or formation of shrinkage cracks is significantly lower. Products made from kiln-dried wood retain their shape better over a long period under stable operating conditions.
  • Biological purity of the material. The temperature regimes of kiln drying inhibit the development of mould and fungi and destroy most insect larvae, specifically woodworm. As a result, the lumber enters production in a biologically safe state, which is particularly important for furniture and joinery manufacturing.
  • Quality of mechanical and finish processing. Dry timber has a stable structure, which directly affects the processing result. During milling and sawing, the tool works cleaner, and the edge comes out smooth, without excessive fuzz or chipping. Sanding proceeds evenly, fibres do not “raise,” and stains, oils, and varnishes penetrate deeper into the pores, ensuring reliable adhesion and a stable finish.

Areas of Application for Amur Cork Tree Edged Board

Amur Cork Tree Worktops

Joinery board is a suitable material for manufacturing hard-wearing worktops for desks, coffee tables, and side tables. Solid board is also used for the production of tops for bar counters, reception desks, counters, kitchen islands, and working surfaces.

Amur Cork Tree Furniture Facades

Substantial wardrobes, chests of drawers, sideboards, shelving units, and floor-standing or wall-mounted cabinets made from furniture board last for decades. Such items are used to furnish residential and public premises, including offices. Furniture facades made from hardwood withstand increased operational loads, which is crucial for high-traffic spaces.

Amur Cork Tree Flooring

Dry solid board is used for the production of various floor coverings. The lumber can be used for the top layer of parquet and engineered board. Additionally, tongue-and-groove floorboards are manufactured from natural timber for indoor installation.

Internal Stairs made of Amur Cork Tree

The high density of hardwoods guarantees the structural strength of staircases. Properly treated wood resists abrasive wear and abrasion in zones of heavy traffic. The solid wood is subject to repeated scraping and refinishing, which extends the service life of wooden stairs.

Decorative Elements from Amur Cork Tree Timber

The unique texture and distinctive pattern of the growth rings make every item, whether a massive wall panel or a miniature key holder, an exclusive design object. The wood’s ability to easily undergo various types of finishing (tinting, varnishing, brushing) allows the decor to be integrated into any style: from Scandinavian minimalism to rustic.

Amur Cork Tree Solid Wood: Properties

Amur Cork Tree (Phellodendron amurense) has a medium density: approximately 540-600 kg/m³. The moderately heavy and strong timber withstands mechanical loads. The solid wood cannot be classified as hard, so it is not used during construction works.

The heartwood has a golden-yellow or pale green hue. The sapwood is lighter, cream-coloured. The texture is uniform and smooth, with fine fibres. The wood pattern of the cork tree resembles Ash.

Cork tree timber is moderately elastic. It is not a leader in bending (like Beech), however, it is well-suited for standard bent elements (aprons, handrails) after steaming.

The material is simple to work with and effortlessly undergoes sawing, sanding, milling, tinting, and varnishing. It cuts softly, like Walnut, and does not blunt tools as severely as Oak or Acacia. Shavings chip off evenly. Amur Cork Tree polishes to a gloss. Thanks to distinct growth rings and a porous structure, the species is used for brushing (removal of soft fibres) and patination. The solid wood absorbs oils well, which emphasise the golden colour.
