For facing materials, the grade indicates aesthetic characteristics rather than technical quality. Since lamella is used as a face layer, its classification is based on visual parameters: the presence of knots, sapwood, medullary rays, and colour uniformity.
All grades in our range undergo the same kiln-drying cycle to a moisture content (MC) of 8–10% and precision thickness sanding. The choice of grade depends solely on the intended style of the finished product.

Teak Sawn Lamella Production Technology
- Raw material selection. The production process begins with the rigorous selection of premium and prime-grade boards. This stage defines the quality of the future product, as timber characteristics directly affect the aesthetics and performance of the lamella.
- Kiln drying. Selected raw materials undergo drying in specialised kilns. This technology allows for the achievement of an optimal joinery moisture content (MC) level (8–10%), which is essential for material stability. Correct drying reduces internal stresses and prevents deformation or cracking.
- Calibration. Before sawing, the boards are calibrated to dimensions that match the parameters of the saw frame. This approach ensures high precision in subsequent processing and optimal material yield.
- Sawing. Prepared blanks are fed into a Wintersteiger machine. After setting the thickness and other parameters, the timber is resawn into sheets. The use of high-precision equipment guarantees consistent saw-cut quality.
- Quality control (QC) and grading. The finished sawn veneer is inspected for compliance with dimensions, thickness, and grade. After grading, the lamellas are grouped into bundles, which are then packed onto pallets for transport.
Teak Timber: Characteristics and Technical Features
Teak (Tectona grandis) is globally recognized as the «king of hardwoods». This species possesses a unique chemical composition, characterized by high concentrations of natural oils and silica. Teak is an unrivaled material for marine applications (yacht building), exterior decking, and high-end furniture designed for use in harsh environments. Its natural botanical range covers Southeast Asian nations: Myanmar (the source of the highly-prized “Burmese Teak”), India, Thailand, and Laos. Due to sustained global demand, teak is extensively cultivated on plantations across Africa, Central, and South America. Plantation-grown teak typically exhibits slightly lower density and oil concentrations compared to old-growth timber harvested from primary forests.
Teak is a medium-weight hardwood with exceptional dimensional stability; it undergoes minimal shrinkage or swelling during fluctuations in relative humidity. Its density typically ranges from 650 to 680 kg/m³, with a Brinell hardness of 3.5–3.8 HB. Natural extractives act as preservatives, making the timber highly resistant to moisture, mold, termites, and other wood-boring pests. The service life (lifespan) of teak products can exceed 50–70 years, even when subjected to direct exposure to the elements.
Freshly sawn timber exhibits a golden-brown or olive hue, occasionally featuring dark mineral streaks. Under UV exposure, teak matures into a rich, deep brown. When left untreated in exterior applications, the material develops a characteristic silvery-gray patina. The texture is coarse and somewhat uneven. To the touch, the wood feels distinctly oily or greasy. The grain is predominantly straight, though wavy or interlocked grain is occasionally encountered. Large, open pores are clearly visible on longitudinal surfaces.
Due to its high silica content, teak exerts a significant blunting effect on cutting tool edges. It is highly recommended to utilize carbide-tipped or diamond-coated (PCD) tooling. The high concentration of natural oils can hinder adhesive bonding. Immediately prior to gluing, the surface must be thoroughly degreased using a solvent (such as acetone or denatured alcohol). Specialized polyurethane or epoxy adhesive systems are preferred for structural bonding. Teak is generally incompatible with traditional water-based or alkyd lacquers, as delamination or peeling may occur. The optimal finishing choice involves specialized teak oils, which penetrate deep into the pores to saturate the fibers and enhance the wood’s natural coloration.
