Significant Acacia plantations are found in the tropics and subtropics of Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa. The tree has a developed root system, allowing it to thrive in arid regions.
Acacia belongs to the fast-growing species. Three years after planting, the tree can grow to 4–5 metres. The height of a mature Acacia reaches 30 m, and the trunk diameter is approximately 1.5 m.
Acacia timber is improved by a multi-directional structure: fibres are positioned towards one another. The cut of the solid wood is smooth; small to medium-sized pores are clearly visible. The colour range of Acacia includes shades from light yellow to dark brown.
The average density of the timber at standard moisture content (12%) is 740–800 kg/m³, classifying it as a heavy hardwood. Hardness on the Brinell scale reaches 7.1 HB. For comparison, Oak ranges from 3.7–3.9 HB.
The solid wood is characterised by high bending strength, making the material resilient and resistant to shock loads. Thanks to natural saturation with antiseptic substances (tyloses), Acacia demonstrates the highest class of bio-resistance and is practically immune to rot.
