- Kiln drying. Selected raw materials undergo drying in specialised kilns. This technology allows for the achievement of an optimal joinery moisture content (MC) level (8–10%), which is essential for material stability. Correct drying reduces internal stresses and prevents deformation or cracking.
- Calibration. Before sawing, the boards are calibrated to dimensions that match the parameters of the saw frame. This approach ensures high precision in subsequent processing and optimal material yield.

While primarily valued as a source of industrial cork, its timber possesses decorative and mechanical properties that resemble ash or oak in many aspects. The Brinell hardness is rated at 2.5–3.0 HB. The density of kiln-dried timber typically ranges from 500 to 550 kg/m³. The species is distinguished by its high biological durability (natural resistance to decay). The steam bending capacity is categorized as medium. Its wear resistance is sufficient for manufacturing decorative wall panels, high-quality furniture, and architectural interior elements.
The heartwood and sapwood are clearly differentiated. The heartwood features a rich dark brown or golden-brown hue, frequently compared to ash. The sapwood is narrow and bright yellow due to the presence of a natural organic dye — berberine. The texture is pronounced, with distinct annual growth rings visible on all cuts. The grain is predominantly straight. The timber exhibits a characteristic silky luster and a bold graphic grain pattern.
Due to its moderate density, the solid wood exhibits excellent machining properties and is easily processed with standard woodworking tools.
