Poplar FK plywood: what is it?
Poplar FK plywood is a multi-layer sheet material made of peeled poplar veneer. The wood sheets are cross-laminated so that the grain directions of adjacent layers run perpendicular to each other and bonded with a urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive. The designation “FK” indicates the glue type that provides the board with moisture-resistant properties.
Important:
poplar plywood is not intended for direct long-term contact with water. It is moisture-resistant, not fully waterproof. The material is used in conditions with possible fluctuations in humidity or brief exposure to moisture.

Advantages of poplar plywood
- Lightweight compared to birch plywood. The density of dry birch wood is around 650 kg/m3, while solid poplar is around 400-500 kg/m3.
- Moisture resistance. The engineered panels are manufactured in strict compliance with technology standards and can be used for interior furnishings and lightweight structures.
- Easy processing. FK plywood is easy to cut, sand, glue, stain, varnish, paint, and veneer.
- Affordable price. The plywood offers an optimal balance of cost and quality.
- Eco-friendly. Thanks to the E1 formaldehyde emission class, the material is safe for indoor use.
What can be made from poplar FK plywood?
Craftsmen use plywood sheets to create:
- affordable cabinet furniture. Lightweight wardrobes, dressers, nightstands, and storage units are especially practical for smaller spaces, simplifying layout and assembly. The material is dependable, withstands everyday loads, and resists warping over time;
- wall and ceiling cladding. Moisture-resistant plywood is widely used for wall and ceiling paneling in apartments, houses, offices, and retail spaces. Multi-layered panels enhance acoustic insulation and improve the overall indoor climate;
- interior partitions. Poplar plywood is used to build interior partition walls, screens, decorative arches, and pelmets. Thanks to its cross-laminated structure, the boards withstand stress and maintain their shape even in complex structures.
Additionally, moisture-resistant FK plywood can be used for temporary subflooring, shipping crates and packaging, and decorative interior elements.
