Key features of moisture-resistant FK plywood sheets
FK plywood is an engineered wood panel made of an odd number of birch veneer layers. The plies are laid so that the grain direction of adjacent layers is perpendicular. This cross-laminated structure significantly enhances the panel’s overall strength.
Urea-based adhesive is used to bond the veneer sheets, giving the plywood resistance to moderate humidity. In fact, the abbreviation “FK” stands for plywood bonded with carbamide (urea) glue.
Characteristics of moisture-resistant FK plywood
This panel material features the following properties:
- Moisture resistance. Resistance to humidity fluctuations is provided by the low water permeability of carbamide resin. FK plywood and products made from it retain their dimensional stability.
- Rigidity. This durable material easily handles mechanical stress and is suitable for both finishing and rough construction work.
- Workability. Standard woodworking hand tools and industrial machinery are used to process moisture-resistant plywood. The material can be sawn, routed, cut, and drilled. The panel surface is easy to sand, paint, stain, and varnish.
Applications of FK plywood
This environmentally safe panel material is widely used for interior applications. Moisture-resistant plywood is used to manufacture:
Furniture
Moisture-resistant plywood is a reliable material used to craft durable, wear-resistant furniture for residential and commercial spaces. Wardrobes, dressers, tall cabinets, and shelving units maintain their structural stability and elegant appearance. Plywood sheets are also widely used to produce tabletops, coffee, and side tables for various interior styles.
Wall, floor, and ceiling cladding
Thanks to its strength, FK plywood serves as an excellent subfloor for parquet or laminate flooring, as well as flooring for utility rooms. It is also used for wall and ceiling paneling in apartments, country houses, offices, and retail spaces. Such cladding helps reduce noise levels and improves indoor climate. The smooth surface is easy to finish, seamlessly integrating into any design concept.
Partitions, screens, and railings
Moisture-resistant plywood is well-suited for various architectural elements. This layered material is used to craft interior partitions, privacy screens, decorative arches, staircase balusters and railings, and cornices.
