How does an edge-glued panel differ from chipboard, MDF, or plywood? MDF and chipboard (particleboard) consist of wood fibers or particles of various fractions bonded with resins, while plywood is composed of cross-laminated layers of peeled veneer.

An Ash solid wood panel is manufactured from natural wooden staves (lamellas) that are precisely milled and glued together. This material can be produced from both coniferous and deciduous hardwood species.

Varieties of Ash Edge-Glued Panels

Dry timber is sawn into staves, which are then graded. Lamellas with structural defects such as large cracks, loose knots, or resin pockets are rejected.

Wooden staves are color-matched by shade, texture, width, and length. The components are coated with adhesive and placed under a hydraulic press for curing. After drying, the solid wood panel undergoes sanding (calibration) and final trimming to the required dimensions.

Lamellas of identical length and width are selected for these panels. Ash staves are glued only along their edges (longitudinally); there is no end-grain (transverse) splicing.

Due to the continuous grain along the entire length, the surface of a full-stave panel is virtually indistinguishable from a single wide plank.
