Features of Edged American Walnut Timber

Solid American Walnut is a strong, dense, wear- and impact-resistant material that is not susceptible to mould. This exclusive wood is used to produce unedged and edged timber used in the manufacture of furniture, household items, and cladding materials for floors, walls, and ceilings.

The advantages of edged American Walnut timber include:

·         readiness for joinery work: the material is already prepared for cutting into components;

·         ease of transportation: boards with processed edges are simpler and more convenient to transport;

·         no extra wood waste from trimming edges manually: the craftsman does not need additional edge processing and immediately purchases the exact volume of wood required for the job.

WoodWay Expert offers Extra and Grade 1 edged timber suitable for high-end manufacturing. The material is stored in a properly equipped warehouse under appropriate conditions. You can explore the full range here

American Walnut Timber Flooring for the Home

Kiln-dried edged American Walnut timber is used in the production of interior flooring. The most common options include:

1.       Parquet boards. This multi-layered material consists of three layers. The base is a solid thin sheet of wood. The middle core is made of glued strips of affordable wood species. The top wear layer is made of American (Black) Walnut. To protect the valuable wood from mechanical wear, the surface of the parquet board is finished with wax, oil, or varnish.

2.       Solid wood flooring. Traditional solid floorboards are a premium flooring option that, with proper care, lasts for decades while retaining its refined appearance. American Walnut floorboards suit both modern and classic interiors. To simplify installation, tongue-and-groove boards are used: the tongue on one edge fits into the groove on the adjacent board, locking the planks securely in place. In addition, tongue-and-groove boards ensure a flat, seamless surface without gaps.

American Walnut Timber Flooring for Terraces and Outdoors

Solid American Walnut timber is used to produce decking for verandas, terraces, balconies, patios, poolside decks, and garden walkways. For outdoor relaxation areas, grooved decking boards and smooth deck boards are used. The former features a grooved non-slip surface, while the latter has rounded edges that help prevent warping and cracking during humidity fluctuations.

The market offers the following types of American Walnut decking:

·         thermally modified timber: the wood undergoes thermal treatment, making the boards dense and resistant to weather extremes;

·         impregnated timber: the boards are treated with an antiseptic solution that penetrates deep into the wood structure. Thanks to this treatment, the material withstands precipitation, temperature fluctuations, and mold;

·         composite decking: flooring composed of wood flour, bonding resins, and additives that withstands extreme operating conditions. WPC decking is stable, durable, and aesthetic.

Smooth deck boards are most commonly used for garden paths and dock decking. These planks also undergo protective treatments for enhanced moisture resistance and durability.
