Performance of particle board
Particle boards, made of wood chips and binding resins, are produced by hot pressing. The raw material for particle board is carefully selected: chips of a set width, length and thickness are used. Mixing the wood material with resins gives a plastic mass, which is then fed into moulds. Once the blanks have been hot pressed and cured under high temperature, the board is faced with veneer.
Affordability and excellent working qualities are among the main advantages of particle board. The sheets resist changes in humidity and temperature. Buying particle board in Ukraine is also straightforward. Our catalogue holds a broad range of naturally veneered boards, notable for:
- environmental safety. We supply boards with formaldehyde emission class E1. That rating means the substance stays within the recommended limits and such boards may be used in residential and public interiors. Facing the surface with natural wood raises the environmental safety of the finished item, which is why the composite material is also used for children’s room furnishings;
- build quality. The facing is carried out in strict accordance with the process. Veneer with the right figure is selected for the lay-up, and it is bonded on with dedicated machinery;
- appearance. Particle board veneered in American walnut needs no further painting or sanding. The expressive figure of the wood stands on its own and can serve as the decorative accent of furniture and other interior items.
American walnut timber
Veneer cut from this valuable species is suitably hard-wearing. Properly finished, the dense timber resists moisture, rot, pests and direct sunlight. American walnut holds its shape and is not troubled by mechanical loads.
An important quality of the timber is its attractive appearance. The rich colour and the clear figure with contrasting growth lines make black walnut veneered particle board an excellent material for household items in a wide range of styles.
The palette of American walnut runs to dozens of shades. The wood usually darkens over time. The heartwood may be anything from light brown to deep chocolate. The sapwood (the young outer layers) carries lighter shades – honey, sand, milky, cream. Reddish streaks are common in the timber.
Where American walnut veneered particle board is used
Composite boards became popular in manufacturing and construction in the 1980s, although the material had been available as early as the 1940s. Thanks to its looks, particle board faced with American walnut veneer is widely used in exclusive classic and contemporary interiors. The sheets are made into:
| Cabinet furniture | This valuable species suits a range of styles. Items made from darker boards are often used as a contrasting accent. |
| Wall panels | Facing a wall with panels of striking figure marks out a functional area and gives the room the mood you want. |
