**1 349,00 € / m³ (1 349,00 € / m³)**

Prime grade unedged oak board features a highly uniform texture and consistent coloring. The surface is clean and virtually knot-free. This solid wood is ideal for manufacturing premium live-edge tables, designer furniture, custom windowsills, and high-end flooring. Premium-quality unedged oak boards allow industrial manufacturers to minimize waste during cutting and significantly reduce final finishing and machining time. Kiln-dried (8–10% moisture content). Thickness: 32 mm and 52 mm. Ex-works  warehouse pickup or nationwide delivery across Ukraine are available.

## Characteristics of Extra Grade Unedged Oak Board

Board grade is a classification of timber based on the natural characteristics of the wood. This includes the number and type of knots, presence of cracks or sapwood, and uniformity of texture and colour.

The grade primarily determines the aesthetic qualities of the material rather than its basic physical-mechanical properties. Given the same species and correct moisture content, the grade has almost no effect on the strength of the board.

**Features of Extra (Prime) Grade boards:**

- Elite timber with a clean surface: uniform texture and homogenous colouring.
- Knots, sapwood, cracks, or sharp colour variations are not permitted.
- This is material for furniture facades, wall panels, and other interior items where visual perfection is required.

## Advantages of Unedged Oak Board

1. **Maximum Economic Benefit.** This is the most affordable type of timber. The cost per cubic metre of unedged board is significantly lower than that of edged timber. This is because the price does not include the costs of edging and production waste percentages. It is the optimal choice for those who possess machinery for self-cutting or are seeking a budget-friendly solution.
2. **Unique “Live Edge” Aesthetics.** In joinery, a waney edge is not a defect but an aesthetic feature. Preserving the natural contour of the trunk allows for the creation of exclusive furniture in loft, eco, rustic, and country styles. It is precisely from such boards that popular river tables with epoxy resin, bespoke window sills, breakfast bars, and headboards are crafted.
3. **Freedom of Cutting.** When working with edged boards, a craftsman is limited by the strict geometry of the timber. **Unedged Hornbeam board** offers freedom: you decide how to navigate around a knot or crack. This is particularly valuable when manufacturing curved components (such as chair legs or decorative elements), as it allows you to extract more useful raw material from the board.
4. **Versatility of Application.** Depending on the species and grade, this material covers a wide range of tasks. These range from construction (formwork, scaffolding) to high-end design projects (worktops with a live edge, non-standard window sills).

## Unedged Oak Board: Dimensions

WoodWay Expert offers high-quality unedged boards produced from selected and correctly dried timber. The timber is stored in appropriate conditions. Our warehouse stocks solid boards in the following dimensions:

- **Thickness:** 32 mm, 52 mm;
- **Width:** From 20 cm;
- **Length:** 1–4.5 m.

Boards exceeding 3 metres in length incur a +20% surcharge on the price listed in the price list. Our specialists will assist you in selecting quality material for your project of any complexity and scale. An additional rough cutting service is available for more convenient transport.

## Features of Kiln Dried Oak Boards

- **Dimensional Stability.** During kiln drying, the moisture content of the wood is brought to an average of 8–10%. This is the optimal figure for interior use. Controlled temperature and humidity regimes significantly reduce internal stresses in the solid wood. Consequently, the board behaves predictably during cutting and further processing: the risk of warping, twisting, or the formation of shrinkage cracks is significantly lower. Products made from kiln-dried timber retain their shape better over time under stable operating conditions.
- **Biological Purity of the Material.** The temperature regimes of kiln drying inhibit the development of mould and fungi. They also destroy the majority of pest larvae, particularly woodworm. As a result, the timber enters production in a biologically safe state, which is particularly important for furniture and joinery manufacturing.
- **Quality of Mechanical and Finish Processing.** Dry timber has a stable structure, which directly influences the processing result. During milling and sawing, tools work more cleanly, and the edge emerges smooth without excessive fuzz or chipping. Sanding proceeds evenly, fibres do not “raise”, and stains, oils, and varnishes penetrate the pores better and deeper, ensuring reliable adhesion and a stable finish.

## Areas of Application for Oak Unedged Board

### European Oak

Joinery board is a suitable material for manufacturing wear-resistant worktops for desks, coffee tables, and side tables. Solid board is also used for producing tops for bar counters, reception desks, counters, kitchen islands, and general working surfaces.

### Oak Furniture Facades

Substantial wardrobes, chests of drawers, sideboards, shelving units, and cabinets made from furniture board serve for decades. Such items are used to furnish both residential and public spaces, including offices. **Furniture facades** made from hardwood species withstand increased operational loads, which is vital for high-traffic areas.

### Oak Flooring

Dry solid board is used for the production of various floor coverings. The timber can be applied as the top layer of parquet and engineered boards. Additionally, natural wood is used to manufacture tongue-and-groove floorboards for indoor installation.

### Internal Stairs made of Oak

The high density of hardwoods guarantees the structural strength of stair flights. Properly treated timber resists abrasive wear and friction in zones of the most intense traffic. Solid wood is subject to repeated scraping and refinishing, which extends the service life of wooden stairs.

### Decorative Elements from Oak Timber

The unique texture and distinct pattern of growth rings make every item an exclusive design object. This applies whether it is a massive wall panel or a miniature key holder. The wood’s ability to easily undergo various types of finishing (tinting, varnishing, brushing) allows the decor to integrate into any style, from Scandinavian minimalism to rustic.

## European Oak Timber: Key Characteristics and Features

European oak (Quercus robur) is widespread throughout Europe, from the Atlantic coast to the Urals, as well as in parts of Asia Minor and the Caucasus. In Ukraine, this species is considered one of the primary commercial hardwood and forest-forming species.

Oak wood is classified as a medium-to-high density hardwood. Due to its high resistance to mechanical impact, the material offers exceptional wear resistance. Its air-dry density typically ranges between 650–800 kg/m³. Brinell hardness ranges from 3.7 to 3.9 HB. Oak exhibits superior resistance to abrasion, making it perfectly suited for heavy-duty commercial and residential flooring applications.

The color spectrum of the heartwood ranges from light yellow to deep yellow-brown and dark brown. Over time and under the influence of UV light, the heartwood darkens slightly. The narrow zone of sapwood is clearly demarcated from the heartwood and is light yellow or whitish in color. The wood grain is predominantly straight, though it can be slightly wavy depending on growth conditions. Large medullary rays are clearly visible on the radial cut, while characteristic parabolic patterns of growth rings appear on the tangential cut.

Due to its high density and hardness, oak requires the use of high-quality, sharp industrial tools. The solid timber displays excellent machining, sanding, and turning properties. Thanks to its optimal elasticity, oak is perfectly suited for steam bending applications. The material has excellent nail and screw-holding capacity, though pre-drilling is highly recommended to prevent splitting. Due to its high tannin content, oak timber can discolor when in contact with iron and alkaline compounds. This specific characteristic is utilized in artificial aging techniques, such as ammonia fuming or creating a bog-oak effect. Oak is easily stained, oiled, and waxed for a premium finish.
