**24,99 € / m² (24,99 € / m²)**

Mulberry sawn veneer (lamellas) 2.5 mm thick is an exclusive timber product featuring a rich golden-amber palette, a silky sheen, and an expressive grain pattern. These sawn lamellas are used for facing cabinet furniture, manufacturing decorative wall panels, and fine inlay work (marquetry). Mulberry sawn veneer polishes well and develops a deeper shade over time with natural patina. We supply the material wholesale and retail from 1 pack. Remote selection is available. Dispatch is available across Ukraine, alongside warehouse pickup in Kyiv.

## Key Features of Mulberry Sawn Veneer (Lamella)

1. **Structural integrity.** Due to the sawing technology, the timber maintains a stable structure and fibre integrity, ensuring high surface quality.
2. **Natural colour palette.** The production process for lamellas does not require preliminary steaming. This preserves the natural wood shades without unwanted yellow or red tints, which is critical for design projects.
3. **Durability and restoration.** With thicknesses ranging from 2 mm to 10 mm, lamella products can be sanded and refinished multiple times (similar to solid wood boards). This makes the material ideal for high-traffic flooring, stairs, and furniture.
4. **Stability.** Sawn veneer demonstrates high resistance to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. The risk of deformation in products veneered with these sheets is minimal.
5. **Workability.** The smooth and clean surface after sawing ensures excellent adhesion with all types of adhesives (PVA, PU, resins). Veneer sheets are easy to cut, sand, stain, and varnish.

## Custom Mulberry Sawn Lamella

We stock Acacia sawn veneer in thicknesses of 2.5 mm and 4.5 mm, lengths of 2–3.2 m, and widths of 10–21 cm.

Made-to-order options:

- Thickness: Non-standard sizes from 2 mm to 10 mm.
- Dimensions: Custom widths and lengths available upon request.
- Minimum order quantity (MOQ): From 10 m² per species.
- Lead time: 10 working days.

**TIP.** Always order sawn lamellas with a 10–15% surface area allowance. Extra material is essential for grain matching and figure alignment, as well as for end trimming and cross-cutting.

## Mulberry Sawn Veneer Grades

For facing materials, the grade indicates aesthetic characteristics rather than technical quality. Since lamella is used as a face layer, its classification is based on visual parameters: the presence of knots, sapwood, medullary rays, and colour uniformity.

All grades in our range undergo the same kiln-drying cycle to a moisture content (MC) of 8–10% and precision thickness sanding. The choice of grade depends solely on the intended style of the finished product.

| Grade | Characteristics |
| --- | --- |
| A (Select / Prime) | The highest level of timber selection, prioritising clarity and uniformity. Features uniform colour across the entire surface, with no sapwood, mechanical damage, or large knots. Only occasional «pin» knots (up to 2–3 mm) are permitted. Ideal for premium furniture in classic or minimalist styles, worktops, and cabinet fronts with perfect texture. |
| B (Natural) | This material showcases the wood’s texture, balancing clarity with authenticity. Healthy intergrown knots of medium size, slight colour variations, and a small amount of sapwood are permitted. Suitable for Scandinavian-style products, engineered parquet boards, and interior panels. |
| C (Rustic / Country) | Highly expressive texture that emphasises the material’s natural origin. Includes large knots (including «dead» knots), cracks, pronounced sapwood, and contrasting heartwood. The optimal choice for Loft, Rustic, and Country styles. |

## Where is Mulberry Sawn Veneer Used?

### Parquet Board

Hardwood sawn veneer is used as the wear layer of flooring. The Mulberry wear layer withstands the operational loads of residential spaces and, with proper treatment and maintenance, provides long-lasting service. Engineered and parquet boards are aesthetic, practical, and wear-resistant materials that suit dozens of interior styles.

### Staircase Elements and Treads

Sawn veneer from hard and dense species is used to face the treads and landings of internal staircases. Lamellas withstand significant loads, maintain their structural geometry, and are suitable for future restoration.

### Worktops

Sawn veneer sheets are a durable material used for desks, coffee tables, and side tables, as well as bar counters, shop counters, reception desks, and kitchen islands.

### Furniture Fronts

Sawn lamella allows for the creation of unique custom cabinetry. Due to its sufficient thickness, veneered fronts can be milled or wire-brushed. Additionally, lamellas are used to create louvred fronts for wardrobes and other storage areas. Timber-faced doors for cabinets, chests of drawers, and sideboards are essential elements for bespoke design projects.

### Wall Panels

Interior timber panels are not only wall or ceiling finishes but also an opportunity to enhance local lighting. LED-backlit panels are popular for living rooms and bedrooms. Veneered wall panels are also used for the interior fit-out of cafes, restaurants, retail spaces, and offices.

### Interior Decor

Timber lamellas are used to manufacture various decorative products. The material is easy to cut, glue, paint, varnish, and stain. Sawn lamella is used to create toys, puzzles, coasters, napkin holders, boxes, phone holders, decorative panels, stationery organisers, cosmetic stands, wall clocks, and more.

## Mulberry Sawn Lamella Production Technology

- **Raw material selection.** The production process begins with the rigorous selection of premium and prime-grade boards. This stage defines the quality of the future product, as timber characteristics directly affect the aesthetics and performance of the lamella.
- **Kiln drying.** Selected raw materials undergo drying in specialised kilns. This technology allows for the achievement of an optimal joinery moisture content (MC) level (8–10%), which is essential for material stability. Correct drying reduces internal stresses and prevents deformation or cracking.
- **Calibration.** Before sawing, the boards are calibrated to dimensions that match the parameters of the saw frame. This approach ensures high precision in subsequent processing and optimal material yield.
- **Sawing.** Prepared blanks are fed into a Wintersteiger machine. After setting the thickness and other parameters, the timber is resawn into sheets. The use of high-precision equipment guarantees consistent saw-cut quality.
- **Quality control (QC) and grading.** The finished sawn veneer is inspected for compliance with dimensions, thickness, and grade. After grading, the lamellas are grouped into bundles, which are then packed onto pallets for transport.

## Mulberry Timber: A Technical Overview

Mulberry (Morus) is a rare and exceptionally valuable hardwood in the woodworking industry. In terms of physical and mechanical properties, this species often surpasses traditional oak and ash. Due to limited industrial timber supplies, mulberry is categorized as an exclusive material, primarily used for manufacturing high-end furniture, musical instruments, and premium interior joinery.

Mulberry is a thermophilous (heat-loving) species. Its primary botanical range encompasses Central and Western Asia, the Caucasus, Southern Europe, and China. In Ukraine, the tree is prevalent in the southern and central regions. The optimal working properties are found in the heartwood of mature trees (70–100 years old) harvested from dry, sun-exposed sites.

Mulberry timber is characterized as heavy and hard. According to the Brinell scale, its hardness ranges from 5.0 to 6.1 HB. Density values typically fluctuate between 680 and 750 kg/m³. The wood’s tough fiber structure provides high resistance to splitting and mechanical wear.

A defining characteristic of mulberry is its photochromicity — the ability to change color when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light.

A fresh cut typically exhibits a lemon-yellow or golden-yellow hue. Over time, the timber matures into a deep dark brown or chocolate color with a distinct reddish tint. The grain pattern is clear, featuring well-defined annual growth rings. A subtle silky luster is visible on the radial surface (quarter-sawn cut). The grain is predominantly straight, although wavy or figured grain patterns frequently occur near branch junctions (crotches).

Due to its high density and hardness, the timber has a significant blunting effect on cutting tools, yet it turns exceptionally well on lathes and achieves a mirror-like finish after fine sanding. The wood contains natural oils and organic pigments (morin). Mulberry is resistant to water-based stains; therefore, industry experts recommend natural oils and hard waxes as the optimal finishing solutions. The species provides excellent adhesive bonding (gluing), provided the surface is thoroughly degreased prior to application.
