According to the Brinell scale, its hardness ranges from 5.0 to 6.1 HB. Density values typically fluctuate between 680 and 750 kg/m³. The wood’s tough fiber structure provides high resistance to splitting and mechanical wear. A defining characteristic of mulberry is its photochromicity — the ability to change color when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. A fresh cut typically exhibits a lemon-yellow or golden-yellow hue.
